Absolutely seamless experience from start to finish. Picked up a Toyota in Tbilisi, drove through the mountains to Kazbegi, and returned the car in Batumi. The team was responsive on WhatsApp and the car was in perfect condition. Will definitely use TripBox again on our next trip.

Best car rental service I've tried in Georgia. Transparent pricing, no hidden fees, and the insurance options were clearly explained. The host even gave us tips on the best scenic routes.

We rented an SUV for a two-week road trip across the Caucasus. The car handled mountain passes like a champ and when we had a minor issue with a tire, the TripBox team arranged a replacement within hours. That kind of support is rare.

Booked last-minute for a weekend in Kutaisi and the process was painless. Host picked us up at the train station with the car and walked us through everything. Five stars.

I appreciated how clear the rental agreement was. Everything was in English and well documented. The car was a late model with all modern features. Communication via the app was instant.

Excellent service and a beautiful car. The only tiny hiccup was a 10-minute delay at pickup but the host apologized sincerely and threw in an extra full tank at the end. Honest people, would book again.

Car rental at Kutaisi International Airport (KUT)
David Aghmashenebeli Kutaisi International Airport (IATA: KUT, ICAO: UGKO) is Georgia's third largest airport and the main gateway for budget travelers from Europe. It is located 22 km northwest of Kutaisi, in the village of Kopitnari — about 25 minutes by car. Since 2012, KUT has become Georgia's main low-cost hub: Wizz Air flies here from Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria. Ryanair has added flights from Italy and Poland.
The main feature of KUT — it receives 80% of all European low-cost flights to Georgia. Most tourists fly here because tickets are 2-3 times cheaper than to Tbilisi (TBS). But KUT is far from major tourist centers — Tbilisi (245 km), Batumi (140 km). Therefore, renting a car directly at the airport is the most practical solution: you don't pay 250 GEL for a taxi or wait for a minibus, you just drive to where you need to go.
How pickup works at KUT airport
When booking provide your flight number, arrival date and local time (UTC+4). Don't forget to provide your WhatsApp or Telegram for communication.
2-3 hours before arrival the host confirms the meeting via WhatsApp. If your Wizz Air or Ryanair flight is delayed — the pickup is automatically rescheduled with no penalties.
At the terminal after passport control and collecting your luggage, go to the arrivals hall. The host will be waiting with a sign saying "TripBox + Your Name".
At the airport parking lot (50 meters from the exit) — car inspection, photo and video recording, contract signing, key handover. The whole process takes 10-15 minutes.
You drive out on your own onto the E60 highway — towards Kutaisi, Tbilisi or Batumi. This is Georgia's main expressway, asphalt in excellent condition, an easy road with no serpentines.

Which car to choose at KUT airport
Where you're going from KUT determines the car choice. On TripBox in Kutaisi, 50+ cars of all classes are available:
Economy and sedan (Toyota Prius, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Rio): ideal for routes Kutaisi → Tbilisi or Kutaisi → Batumi on the E60 highway. Low fuel consumption on long distances. From $25/day.

Arriving in Kutaisi on Wizz Air or Ryanair? Book your car right away — the host will meet you at the exit even after a night flight. No deposit, payment in rubles.
Kutaisi Airport is compact — a former military base converted for international flights. Basic infrastructure is there, but everything is in one small terminal:
Parking: paid (5-10 GEL/hour), free for the first 15 minutes
ATMs: Bank of Georgia, TBC Bank — in the arrivals hall. Accept Visa, Mastercard, Mir and UnionPay
Currency exchange: 1-2 desks open 24/7, accept EUR, USD, RUB, TRY. Rates are worse than in the city
SIM cards: Magti, Geocell — in the arrivals hall (passport required). Internet package ~20-30 GEL
Wi-Fi: free throughout the terminal
Cafes: 2-3 small spots, operating according to flight schedules. Prices are high — better to wait until Kutaisi
No luggage storage — you'll have to take your bags with you or leave immediately
⚠️ Important for night arrivals: If your Wizz Air or Ryanair flight arrives between 00:30 and 04:00 — most cafes and exchange offices are closed. There are also no gas stations right at the airport. Withdraw some lari from an ATM (ATMs work 24/7) and leave immediately. The first proper SOCAR/Wissol gas station is 15 km down the road towards Kutaisi.
What to see from Kutaisi Airport by car
KUT is conveniently located in central western Georgia — within a day you can get just about anywhere:
Kutaisi (25 minutes): ancient capital of western Georgia, Gelati Monastery and Bagrati Cathedral (UNESCO), Gelati Academy — rental in Kutaisi
The TripBox host waits for you at the exit of the arrivals hall with a sign saying "TripBox + your name". The airport parking lot is 50 meters from the exit — there you inspect the car, sign the contract, and receive the keys. The whole process takes 10-15 minutes.
Is pickup available 24/7? Wizz Air arrives at night.
Yes. Most TripBox hosts in Kutaisi accept flights around the clock, including post-midnight arrivals. This is especially relevant for KUT — many Wizz Air and Ryanair flights land between 00:30 and 04:00. Just specify the exact arrival time when booking.
How long does it take to get from Kutaisi Airport to Tbilisi?
About 3 hours 30 minutes (245 km on the E60 highway). This is Georgia's main expressway with asphalt in excellent condition. The road is easy, without serpentines or mountain sections, suitable even for drivers without experience driving in Georgia.
How long does it take to get from Kutaisi Airport to Batumi?
About 2 hours 15 minutes (140 km). Along the E70 highway through the Colchis Lowland, with one short mountain section in the Adjara region. The road is paved and straightforward. Rental in Batumi if you want to drop the car there.
What if my flight is delayed or canceled?
The host tracks your flight status by flight number. If Wizz Air, Ryanair or another airline delays your flight — the pickup is automatically rescheduled, no penalties or extra fees. In case of cancellation, contact the host — you can change the date or cancel the booking according to the rules.
Can I rent a car at KUT without a deposit and without a credit card?
Yes. Use the "No deposit" and "No credit card" filters in the catalog. Many TripBox hosts in Kutaisi accept a debit card or cash upon pickup — especially relevant for guests from CIS countries who don't have an international credit card.
Can I pay for the rental in rubles?
Yes. TripBox is one of the few platforms in Georgia with direct payment in rubles (RUB). You choose the currency when booking: GEL, USD, EUR, or RUB. No hidden conversion fees.
Can I pick up a car at KUT and drop it off in Tbilisi or Batumi?
Yes, and this is often the most convenient option for low-cost travelers. TripBox supports one-way rentals: you pick up the car at Kutaisi Airport (KUT) and drop it off at Tbilisi Airport (TBS), Batumi (BUS) or in any of 20+ cities in Georgia. The one-way fee is shown in the catalog.
Can I drive to Svaneti (Mestia) from Kutaisi Airport?
Yes. From KUT to Mestia it's about 220 km and 4.5 hours via Zugdidi and the Inguri Gorge. For Svaneti, a crossover or 4×4 is recommended, especially in winter — mountain roads can have snow and ice. KUT is the most convenient airport for Svaneti, closer than TBS or BUS.
